Gacurabwenge Sector Crowned Best Performer in Kamonyi District Performance Contracts 2024/2025
Kamonyi District, Rwanda — Gacurabwenge Sector has been recognized as the top performer in Kamonyi District after achieving 100 percent of its 98 performance targets (Imihigo) for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.
During a ceremony held at the District Headquarters, Gacurabwenge received the top trophy and over 95 percent of all awards presented. Runda Sector was ranked second, followed by Kayenzi Sector in third place.
Speaking at the event, Martha Umugiraneza, Executive Secretary of Gacurabwenge, credited teamwork, accountability, and citizen involvement for the sector’s outstanding performance.
“When we sign performance contracts, we commit as a team together with staff and partners. If one person is absent, another steps in to ensure no gap is left. This spirit of cooperation has been our secret to success,” she said.
Among the special targets achieved were programs such as Ejo Heza (long-term savings), VIUP loans, and Byikorere, a new initiative requiring at least 20% of services to be accessed digitally by citizens without Irembo agents. Despite challenges, including limited smartphone and computer access among residents, the sector successfully met this target.
Umugiraneza emphasized the vital role of citizens in reaching the goals:
“The community is at the heart of these achievements. Most of the targets are implemented with them and for them.”
The event also featured the signing of the 2025/2026 performance contracts between Kamonyi District leadership and all sectors, setting the stage for another year of accountability and results.
