Muhanga, Rwanda — Muhanga District has emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between local authorities and partners, calling for improved reporting systems and consistent information sharing to strengthen accountability and ensure effective implementation of government programs.
District officials noted that when activities are not properly reported, it negatively impacts the annual performance contracts (Imihigo), despite the efforts invested. Leaders were urged to enhance reporting and adopt clear communication channels to ensure that all information is delivered uniformly and followed up efficiently.
“Delivering consistent messages and monitoring their implementation will help leaders work together more effectively and ensure that set goals are achieved,” officials said.
During the event, Muhanga District also recognized outstanding performance by partners, department heads, and sector executive secretaries. Trophies were awarded to the best-performing sectors and departments for their role in delivering the 2024–2025 performance contracts. The ceremony concluded with the signing of the new Imihigo for the 2025–2026 fiscal year between the district leadership, sector executive secretaries, and the National Youth Council.
Award recipients pledged to work even harder to maintain excellence, while those who had lagged behind committed to improving their performance to catch up with the top performers.
Muhanga District Mayor, Jacqueline Kayitare, praised the collective effort that enabled the district to achieve impressive results, highlighting its first-place ranking nationwide in Irembo services, governance, and other public services. She expressed confidence that with renewed energy and collaboration, Muhanga will continue to excel at the national level.
