The Supreme Court reported that Rwandan courts registered 106,254 new cases in 2024/25. Of these, 60% were filed in Primary Courts and 40% in Intermediate, Commercial, and High Council courts.
In total, courts resolved 109,192 cases, with an average of 26 cases per judge per month. Out of these, 85% were substantive cases, while 15% involved pre-trial detention matters.
Meanwhile, the National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA) processed 78,489 case files, successfully handling 96.4% against a target of 96%. Alternative dispute resolution also gained ground, with over 2,000 mediation cases and 11,846 plea bargain agreements recorded.
These achievements highlight Rwanda’s push to modernize its justice system while reducing delays and ensuring accountability.
