Kigali, Rwanda — August 22, 2025 — Rwanda will host the inaugural NCBA Junior Golf Series, a youth tournament designed to introduce and develop the next generation of golfers in the country.
The competition, scheduled to tee off on Friday, August 22, 2025, will bring together 80 young players aged 4 to 16, competing across four categories, from three-hole challenges to a full 18-hole course.
The initiative aims to nurture junior golf talent in Rwanda while promoting sports tourism, with golf being identified as a priority growth sport. The NCBA Junior Golf Series is already established in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, attracting over 1,000 young golfers annually.
Ambassador Bill Kayonga, President of the Rwanda Golf Association, emphasized: “Investing in young golfers means investing in the future of the sport. This tournament is a significant step in that journey.”
Mr. Maurice Toroitich, CEO of NCBA Bank Rwanda, noted the wider benefits of the program: “Supporting children in golf builds discipline, confidence, and professional skills that shape their future. It also aligns with our commitment to sustainable investment.”
Mr. Gaston Gasore, Acting CEO of Kigali Golf Resorts & Villas, added that the event will serve as a showcase of the skills juniors have acquired through training programs at the facility.
The NCBA Junior Golf Series follows the success of the NCBA Golf Series for adults, expanding the bank’s commitment to growing the sport across the region.
