Young Innovators Showcase Progress in Rwanda’s iAccelerator Program

Fifteen youth-led projects that excelled in the sixth edition of the iAccelerator program were showcased on Friday, October 10, 2025, in Muhanga District, during an event aimed at connecting young innovators with opportunities in the labor market.

The showcased projects were among 40 initially shortlisted, from which 15 were selected to pitch before a panel of judges. Ultimately, 10 projects received Rwf 10 million each and six months of technical training to strengthen their implementation capacity.

Some young people whose projects did not make it through the iAccelerator program said those who were selected should seize the opportunity. They noted that iAccelerator provides a rare platform for youth to turn their ideas into reality faster.

Marie Ange Raissa Uwamungu, founder of Impanuro Girls Initiative, said that although her project didn’t go through the program, it took her five years to find financial support — something iAccelerator participants get much sooner.

“Getting funding immediately after presenting your idea is priceless. It took me five years to find a sponsor. Those who get such opportunities shouldn’t take them for granted,” she said.

Among the top 15 projects is Kozzy Wellness, co-founded by Céline Diana Bizimungu, which focuses on mental health awareness.

“Since receiving Rwf 10 million in funding, we’ve reached many young people through school visits, workshops, and workplace talks, bringing in experts to discuss mental health issues,” Bizimungu explained.

Imbuto Foundation CEO, Élodie Shami, said the program demonstrates the transformative potential of young innovators when given trust, space, and resources.

“This is not just about projects. It’s proof of what young people can achieve when empowered to innovate. We aim to connect them with experts, investors, and policymakers to turn their ideas into sustainable solutions,” she said.

Brave Ngabo, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Arts Development, applauded the collaboration with Imbuto Foundation, saying it nurtures entrepreneurship and job creation among youth.

“When young people become entrepreneurs, they not only solve their own challenges but also create jobs for others,” he said.

Launched by Imbuto Foundation in December 2016, iAccelerator supports young entrepreneurs with funding, mentorship, and training to develop innovative, sustainable solutions to societal challenges.
