On September 23, 2025, President Paul Kagame and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi signed a series of agreements aimed at boosting economic cooperation between the two nations. The deals cover investment promotion, water management, urban development, and a landmark land exchange agreement designed to expand market access in the region.
President Kagame emphasized that Egypt is a strategic partner, highlighting ongoing projects such as the construction of a state-of-the-art heart treatment center in Kigali. He praised Egypt’s role in training Rwandan medical professionals and supplying essential medicines and equipment.
“Rwanda and Egypt share opportunities in agriculture, tourism, advanced technology, and food processing,” Kagame said. “The land exchange will open doors to wider regional markets.”
The agreements also reflect Africa’s broader potential to transform natural resources into high-value products, Kagame added, underscoring the importance of industrialization for sustainable development.
The visit also included Rwanda–Egypt business forums, where investors in construction, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture explored opportunities. Previously, in August 2024, the two countries signed multiple agreements in health, transport, and defense cooperation.
