Muhanga Business Community Urged to Reject Genocide Ideology

Business owners in Muhanga District have been urged to distance themselves from genocide ideology and use their wealth to support national development and unity.

The call was made during the 32nd commemoration of businesspeople killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Local leaders highlighted how some wealthy individuals financed and participated in the genocide.

President of the District Council, Gilbert Nshimiyimana, cited figures such as Félicien Kabuga and other businessmen accused of providing vehicles, money, and weapons used by Interahamwe militias to kill Tutsi.

He warned that genocide ideology still exists today and called on the private sector to help prevent and fight it, especially in border areas.
