A woman has been arrested in Rukumberi Sector after allegedly attacking her husband with a bottle during a fight at a local bar.

The incident happened on the night of May 13, 2026, in Maswa Village, Rubona Cell.

According to Nshimiyimana Jean Pierre, the couple had spent the day drinking together before an argument escalated into violence.

“The husband and wife got into a dispute while at the bar. During the fight, the woman struck the man on the neck with a bottle, seriously injuring him,” he said.

Local authorities and security officers responded immediately, arresting the woman and taking the injured man to hospital. He was later transferred to Kibungo Hospital for further treatment.

Officials say investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause of the dispute, although alcohol consumption is believed to have played a major role.

The suspect is currently being held at the Rwanda Investigation Bureau station in Sake.
