Prayers for Janet Museveni Mark Uganda President Museveni’s Swearing-In Ceremony

Uganda’s Archbishop led prayers for First Lady Janet Museveni during the swearing-in ceremony of Yoweri Museveni, asking God to heal her and protect the presidential family.

“Lord, we pray that you heal Mama Janet Museveni who is sick, continue to protect her family, and strengthen them,” the Anglican Church leader said during the event.

President Museveni appeared dressed in a white shirt, black trousers, black shoes, and a khaki hat during the colorful ceremony dominated by yellow — the symbolic color of Uganda and the ruling NRM party.

The event featured a 15-minute military parade followed by the lowering of Uganda’s national flag, symbolizing the end of the National Resistance Movement’s sixth term in office.

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa was re-elected in January with 71.6% of the vote and officially began another five-year term that will keep him in power until 2031.

He was accompanied by members of his family, including Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s military chief and senior presidential adviser, who stood beside him during the military displays.

Rwanda was represented at the ceremony by Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva.
