Police Intensify Anti-Drug Campaign in Rwanda’s Southern Province

Rwanda National Police has intensified its anti-drug operations in Southern Province after destroying large amounts of illegal substances seized from different districts.

The drugs were destroyed publicly on Thursday during a broader awareness campaign aimed at preventing crime and educating communities.

According to police spokesperson CIP Hassan Kamanzi, the destroyed items included more than 480 kilograms of cannabis, over 400 liters of Kanyanga, and dozens of liters of Igikwangari.

He said the operation reflects increasing public cooperation with security agencies in reporting criminal activities.

“The campaign is helping citizens understand the dangers of drugs and the importance of protecting community security,” Kamanzi stated.

Authorities say the anti-drug campaign will continue across the province in collaboration with residents and other security institutions.
